Doctor Who Series 1 Episode Ranking

Updated: Jul 25

Here we go, the revival, the debut, the great comeback, put into a simple pointless countdown by me, enjoy!

13. The Long Game

I find it so hard ranking series episodes except for this one, it just didn't do it for me, and was an easy pick to prop up the rest. This was such a strong series and this episode was just a bit boring. Plus it had Adam in, which drags it down further. Not even Simon Pegg can save it.

12. Boom Town

I really liked this one, which gives you an idea about how much I enjoyed this series. It has been talked about a lot but the Doctor and Margaret having dinner together truly is a memorable scene. Seeing team TARDIS enjoying themselves at the start of the episode is a big plus as well.

11. The End of the World

I always imagine what a young kid must of thought watching this show for the first time in 2005. They must of had such a blast. The aliens, Rose ringing home, seeing the Earth burn, the Doctor being epic, beautiful.

10. Aliens of London

The Slitheen were built up to be this series star performers but not quite sure they hit the heights. However, this was still a fun episode. What do you mean you were put off by farting aliens?

9. World War Three

The same as above really, all good fun!

8. Father's Day

This may be the first of my controversially low rated episodes. I cannot state enough that I love this one, I just liked others better. I would of loved to have seen more 80's shiz going down, but can understand that the budget probably didn't allow that, plus they were in a church most of the episode. I loved Rose's Dad going from zero to hero, and where he works out who Rose actually is was so well done. A point or two was knocked off for how slow the car was going though.

7. Bad Wolf

It seems a bit dated now with Big Brother and the like, but it does a good job of setting up a banger finale. The cliffhanger alone is worth bumping this up a few places.

6. Dalek

This is an episode that is highly thought of, but it only gets a midtable finish for me. Not because I didn't like it, but because I truly did forget how marvellous this series was and I have some bangers ahead of it. I didn't like Van Staten's staff either. However that scene will live in my head rent free for eternity - Doctor? The Doctor!!!!! Christopher Ecclestone put in an all timer in this one as well.

5. The Unquiet Dead

An underrated gem in my eyes. Creepy, morbid in parts, scary, and great Doctor Who.

4. Rose

A "fantastic" start to a new era. Billie is a natural and Christopher Ecclestone is a titan. The chemistry these two had was off the charts and the turning of the world speech still gives me a thrill. The start to so many peoples love affair with this silly little show.

3. The Empty Child

Are you my Mummy? I bloody hope not!! Such a simple thing, yet unnerving as hell. Victor Meldrew being turned is still one of those Doctor Who moments that will be remembered by many.

2. The Parting of the Ways

"THEY SURVIVED THROUGH ME"

Oh that scene is tremendous. Christopher Ecclestone does Christopher Ecclestone things. The chip shop scene amid all the drama on Satellite 5 is beautiful, Billie Piper aces it, everyone aces it. I often wonder what another series with Ecclestone would of been like, would RTD have gone down the same path with his series 2 stories? We will never know.

1. The Doctor Dances

Superb!! Everything!! No notes! Ok, a few notes. Nancy was a brilliant character and really well acted, the scene where the Doctor sends the child to its room and the tape ending when they are in said room is creepy AF, the resolution is bloody joyous!
