Merry Brickmas!!! The best festive LEGO sets...

Updated: 4 days ago

Merry Christmas, or should that be Brickmas!!!

Is there a better day to build LEGO? I remember the good old days when I'd be building all my presents through the day, a pirate ship, fire and police stations, all the classics.

When I was younger there was nothing like the options we have these days, so I thought it was only right and proper to have a look at some of my favourite festive LEGO sets.

I don't actually own any of these sets, I am sure one or two might end up in my collection eventually though. I promise to be good in 2025 Mr. Christmas!!

Santa's Delivery Truck - 40746 - £17.99

Nothing too major to start with, but I think this one is a cute, and more importantly, cheaper option. It's not a show stopper by any means, but it never will be for £17.99.

LEGO set - Santa's delivery truck, small Christmas tree on top, with elf minifigure surrounded by presents
Wreath - 10340 - £89.99

You'd have to be a brave person to stick this on your front door in the UK winter. Battered by wind and rain you'd be picking pieces up well into the new year. It does look brilliant, but I'd be dubious on forking out £89.99 for it though.

LEGO set - Christmas wreath, berries, mistletoe, orange segments
Hogsmeade Visit - 76388 - £50.00

This is a retired Harry Potter set which you could pick up for around £50.00 on BrickLink. Is it controversial to say I never fully got into Harry Potter? I watched all the films but they were all far too goody two shoes for me. We got the Hogwarts Legacy game and I had the same issue with that, it looked great, but all the characters were posh twats being far too kind. Not for me, give me an anti-hero any day of the week. Needless to say, I wouldn't necessarily go for a Harry Potter set, but if I were to ever make a winter village of some sort, these two buildings would be a great addition. Seven minifigs as well - which I assume would not be included if you brought ff BrickLink.

LEGO set - two snow capped buildings, three broomsticks pub and honeydukes sweet shop
Home Alone - 21330 - £259.99

You have watched the film for the hundredth time of your life this month haven't you? This set has so many fun elements to it, so many nods to the film and Kevin's traps for the Wet Bandits. This is definitely a set I would like to add to my collection.

LEGO set - large house from the movie home alone, lego van, treehouse with minifigures outside
The Ice Castle - 43197 - £130.00

I do love me a bit of Frozen. This set would look great in the background of a winter village. I have neither the money or space to make this happen, but in my head it seems good.

By coincidence, if you have a spare ten minutes or so, why not check out the FanFic page on this website to read a story about the Thirteenth Doctor taking Yaz on a trip to Arendelle amongst other things.

The ice castle from the movie Frozen, tall LEGO set, Anna, Elsa and Olaf minifigures standing at front
Olaf - 41169 - £6.00

If you don't love Olaf you are dead inside. You could pick up this retired set for around £3-6. What a bargain. Look at him! Why wouldn't you want an Olaf?

Winter Village Fire Station - 10263 - £75.00

There are better sets for the winter village, but if you are like me and buy one, you will have to buy the whole lot. I love the little bench, the snow covered steps, and any set with a LEGO Christmas tree gets bonus points from me.

This is another retired set that if you shopped around you could probably get around the £75.00 mark. Living in the UK post Brexit though brings its own problems, and one is that postage costs are now ridiculous so it may be a case of waiting patiently for something to come up, or, if you have a massive box of LEGO, try and make it from that.

LEGO set - fire station covered in snow, Christmas tree, bench, fire truck and minifigures outside
Gingerbread House - 10267 - £100.00

This is a cool one. It looks great with a lot of detail - colourful, fun and very festive! There are gingerbread minifigures, candy canes, sweets and a fireplace. There is a lot going on for quite a small set.

This is probably the most playful set on my list, and probably one of my favourite ones. Yet another retired set, although it seems more readily available in the UK than some of the other sets that have been put out to pasture. As I write about this one my finger is twitching over buying it on BrickLink. Do I? Don't I?

LEGO set - Gingerbread house, covered in snow and candy canes, two gingerbread minifigures out the front with small train, heart and Christmas tree
Friends Holiday Ski Slope and Cafe - 41756 - £74.99

LEGO Friends sets were such a great addition to the LEGO range. They are full of colour, look great, and are fun to build for both kids and adults. I have had a great time building some of these sets in the past. It is also great to see how inclusive the minifigures are, depicting lots of different people, all with their own stories to tell. This set looks cute as hell, I like it a lot, I want it!

LEGO set - cute looking ski slope set, snow capped trees, small slope and shop, minifigures on skis
Poinsettia - 10370 - £44.99

I am a big fan of all of the flower sets. I proposed to my now wife with the Botanicals Flower Bouquet, so they mean a lot to me as well. If we had a house in working order - it is currently in the process of a major sort and potential extension - then I would have snuck this on to the middle of our table before Christmas dinner.

LEGO set - red flowers in a pot
Santa’s Post Office - 10339 - £89.99

A new one - so more accessible, and cheaper than some of the retired sets. There is a lot going on here. Personally, I don't think a winter village is for me, I don't have the space, and I think it would be too stressful to set up and put away each year. That said, they all look amazing, and I am jealous of some of the villages I have seen on Instagram.

LEGO set - snow covered workshop with hot air baloon in background. Santa, a Christmas tree and elves out the front

Did you get any cool sets this year? Did you get any festive sets? Do you build a winter scene the second Halloween is out the way? Let me know in the comments below.
