What did you think of these episodes?
Sonic!
Good!
Bumpy-wumpy!
Exterminate!
I watch a few episodes, let them sink in, and then I write a review. It pains me to say this, but I don't remember a whole lot of this, it was a bit of a drab affair.
I had the same issue with Chibnall's writing in series 11, it just wasn't for me, I found myself daydreaming and losing interest. I appreciate that a lot of people loved series 11, but for me, I just didn't get it, and these episodes are added to the list.
What can I say about it? Irritating kid, yep! Ridiculous people not showing any restraint whilst also not being that believable, yep again.
Even the cliffhanger to The Hungry Earth was underwhelming!
"Oh, that’s okay. I can’t make a decent meringue. Draw like your life depends on it, Elliot."
I hate slating episodes, I try and write a bit, and I know the majority of people would probably read it, smirk, and say why the fuck is this clown complaining about a highly respected writer! But here I am!!
The world would be a very boring place if we all liked the same thing though wouldn't it?
Take the film The Notebook as an example. People bloody love it. When I watched it I felt my brain rotting!! How is a bloke who stalks a woman when she's with her fella a heartthrob? Why is it romantic that they argue all the time? If I did some of the things Ryan Gosling's character did I would be fully expecting a knock on my door from the police.
Christmas is coming, people will be banging on about Love Actually. The second shortest film ever made after The Notebook. Call a woman fat all the time but you are a man in power? Oh she'll fall for you! Head over heels, never mind he's twice her age!!
The famous scene with the cards? What the fuck is that all about!! Can anyone who loves this please tell me why it is nice a bloke films creepy close ups of a bride on her wedding day? Not only that, but it's the blokes best mate!! Then he turns up on the doorstep under his mates nose with his wanky cards? Oh fuck right off!!
I can't even remember the other 'love' stories in the film, I know they are all creepy and unrealistic as fuck though!!!!
Don't get me started on Grease!!!! I can confirm that it was the biggest disappointment of my life. All those great songs
What I'm getting at is not everyone has the same taste!! I apologise, as you can tell I have a dislike of movies billed as great love stories which all seem a bit rapey to me!!
"If the time-energy catches up with you you’ll never have been born. It’ll erase every moment of your existence. You will never have lived at all."
The ending to the episode was pretty cool though. I love how much the cracks feature throughout the series. Question though - how could the Doctor stick his hand in the crack but Rory was swallowed up by it? I don't overly care about things like that, just something I noticed - I know, everyone probably noticed that 14 years or so ago, don't be unkind to me!!
Apart from the ending, Rory's death, the Doctor's helplessness, Amy waving to herself, this was a pretty boring story, and it is VERY rare I say that about Doctor Who. No I take that back, we also got the birth of the legendary Madame Vastra from this, so every cloud...
Buckle in though, because I know the rest of the series is banger after banger!!!
RATING: Exterminate!
BEST LINE: "No, you’re really not. Because I’m the last of my species and I know how it sits in a heart. So don’t insult me! Let’s start again. Tell me your name."
