Someone help me here please! Is this just a Doctor Who thing? Does this happen in any other show? What am I talking about? The harmless mediocre romp that fans pass off because it is in the middle of the series.
I always see comments about episodes like these. Almost as if the showrunners don't give a fuck about what goes on in Doctor Who other than the first and last few episodes.
Do I think that is the case? No! I guess originally they liked to put a romp of sorts in the middle to break up some of the deeper stuff perhaps?

Funny how you can say something in your head and it sounds fine."
Another opener to an episode that felt so different from the previous four series. No death, no cliffhanger, just the Doctor and an awkward silence, I loved it.
I have never seen such a tame stag do!! Do people still have their stag dos the night before a wedding these days? I want to see Rory in Benidorm
One thing I didn't realise was how irritating I found early Rory! He seemed to be there as comic relief but I never found his bumbling all that funny! Perhaps I could ignore the bumbling, but there is being pussy whipped and being Rory pussy whipped. Jesus mate, your wife to be is treating you like an absolute piece of shit, let me see a bit of fight in there please? The fact she tried to shag the Doctor 5 minutes before the episode was very quickly forgotten. I don't think that is something somebody would forget easily.
How tame was that stag do by the way? Do they still have them the night before weddings these day? I wanted to see Rory in Benidorm watching a Sticky Vicky show!!
Season 6 Rory gets a bit of a backbone and is much more likeable though - I forgot that until I started rewatching the show in order.

Some of the effects in this episode look a bit dated. The Doctor climbing the bell tower for one, and the fish vampire aliens don't quite hold up, but to be honest, that doesn't bother me all that much - we are reviewing Doctor Who after all. Having just seen the clip from Children in Need for Joy to the World though, you can see the budget difference - how good did that look by the way? So excited to see more of Ncuti!!!
Helen McCroy was great in this, and I loved Rosanna and Guido's slightly creepy mother and son relationship. She was basically setting him up with 100's of women, but he seemed more keen to cuddle up with her.

Matt Smith put in another top performance, he really was becoming the Doctor more and more each episode. Moffat really pulled it out the bag picking him!!
All in all a steady episode, a fun one to rewatch if I ignore Amy being a shit and Rory being a drip!!
