Doctor Who Series 3, Episode 6 Review: The Lazarus Experiment

What did you think of this episode?

  • Sonic!

  • Good!

  • Bumpy-wumpy!

  • Exterminate!

I think I might have my rose tinted glasses on, but I didn't think this was bad. I know this episode has got a lot of hate, and it isn't one I go back and watch a lot, however, I quite enjoyed it.

It is always nice to get to meet more of the companions family and we got to see a lot of Martha's in this episode. I love Tish, although she disappointed me with her attempt at snogging Lazarus. That just seemed slightly wrong to me.

"With the push of a single button, I will change what it means to be human."

I think the main reason this has been derided is the CGI. But come on guys, it was 2007 with a BBC budget and I didn't think it was all that bad. I guess I am easily pleased. The face on the monster looked a little peculiar I will give you that.

I really enjoy Mark Gatiss in all his acting roles - his Mycroft Holmes is a bloody delight!!! He was brilliant here as well, there is something about his voice that always draws me in.

"And that’s two impossible things we’ve seen so far tonight. Don’t you love it when that happens?"

Another Mother and another good old slap for the Doctor. Probably the best slap of the lot!! Nice one Francine!

One other thing I love is when the TARDIS lands in someone's bedroom. I don't know why, I just do!

I wish there was a bit more fightback from Martha, but that will come as the series progresses. She was very quick to run to the top of the tower whilst being chased by a hungry deformed monster type thing whilst the Doctor had a jolly good time playing the church organ.

"Well you were never really just a passenger were you?"

I actually wish I had given myself more options to pick from, as I would fit this episode somewhere in between good and bumpy-wumpy.

RATING: Bumpy-wumpy!

BEST LINE: "I’m old enough to know that a longer life isn’t always a better one. In the end you just get tired. Tired of the struggle. Tired of losing everyone that matters to you. Tired of watching everything turn to dust. If you live long enough, Lazarus, the only certainty left is that you’ll end up alone."
