Doctor Who Chart Toppers - Series 3 & 4

Updated: Jan 28

Contain yourselves - here is the second part of counting down the UK chart toppers when episodes of Doctor Who series 3 and 4 aired, with some specials at the end.

25th December 2006

The Runaway Bride

A Moment Like This

Leona Lewis

I used to sit by the radio every Christmas day waiting to here the Christmas number one. Simon Cowell well and truly pissed over that bonfire. I do like Leona though, and you can't help but belt this one out with her.

31st March 2007

Smith and Jones

I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)

The Proclaimers Ft. Brian Potter and Andy Pipkin

Another Comic Relief song - yeah I know!! Oh hello, is that a Doctor in his kilt in the music video? Where is Martha though?

7th April 2007

The Shakespeare Code

I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)

The Proclaimers Ft. Brian Potter and Andy Pipkin

This is going to be Amarillo all over again isn’t it?

14th April 2007

Gridlock

I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)

The Proclaimers Ft. Brian Potter and Andy Pipkin

As much as I enjoy seeing David Tennant having the time of his life, I really want some more tunes. Do Comic Relief still release singles each year? Everything like that seems to be a dieing art these days.

I still find it upsetting football teams don't release a single when they get to the FA Cup final these days. Anfield Rap, Come on You Reds, Blue Is the Colour, Ossie's Dream, bloody classics!! Everything just seems so much less fun these days.

21st April 2007

Daleks in Manhattan

Give It to Me

Timberland Ft. Nelly Furtado and Justin Timberlake

How do I not know songs from 2007? What year did I go out of date? My days must of been on the way out around this time.

28th April 2007

Evolution of the Daleks

Beautiful Liar

Beyonce & Shakira

Two icons! Three if you count the Daleks! Lovely stuff!

5th May 2007

The Lazarus Experiment

Beautiful Liar

Beyonce & Shakira

Beyonce and Shakira still making sweet music as we get to see Mark Gatiss' bum.

19th May 2007

42

Baby’s Coming Back/Transylvania

McFly

The show was delayed for a week for Eurovision. What time were these things on back then? Couldn't they of had Who-rovision or whatever it was called? Anyway, McFly hit the top with a double header as Chris Chibnall gave us his first episode.

26th May 2007

Human Nature

Umbrella

Rihanna Ft. Jay-Z

This one will be till the end won't it?

2nd June 2007

The Family of Blood

Umbrella

Rihanna Ft. Jay-Z

Was this a summer like the one we are having now? Constant rain and Rihanna got the blame.

9th June 2007

Blink

Umbrella

Rihanna Ft. Jay-Z

She's still there!

16th June 2007

Utopia

Umbrella

Rihanna Ft. Jay-Z

I thought as much, Rihanna isn't budging!

23rd June 2007

The Sound of Drums

Umbrella

Rihanna Ft. Jay-Z

5 weeks and no sign of stopping!

30th June 2007

Last of the Time Lords

Umbrella

Rihanna Ft. Jay-Z

She did it! Rihanna survives the reign of the Master! She survives the death of a President, the future human race killing humans for fun, and the Doctor turning into a goblin thingy bob!

25th December 2007

Voyage of the Damned

When You Believe

Leon Jackson

More X Factor, I won't lie, I have absolutely zero idea who Leon Jackson is. Obviously this episode has very big musical connections with the one and only Kylie.

5th April 2008

Partners in Crime

American Boy

Estelle Ft. Kanye West

You'll be my mating partner and American boy!

12th April 2008

The Fires of Pompeii

American Boy

Estelle Ft. Kanye West

Two Doctors and companions for the price of one here. Unfortunately they had to share the stage with Kanye.

19th April 2008

Planet of the Ood

American Boy

Estelle Ft. Kanye West

Estelle still topping the charts, do American boys need slaves? Head over to the Oodsphere if so!

26th April 2008

The Sontaran Stratagem

4 Minutes

Madonna Ft. Justin Timberlake and Timbaland

Can't say I remember this song. I do remember Wilf stupidly getting in his car however.

3rd May 2008

The Poison Sky

4 Minutes

Madonna Ft. Justin Timberlake and Timbaland

Madonna was still topping the charts and thankfully Wilf got out of the car. Phew!

10th May 2008

The Doctor’s Daughter

4 Minutes

Madonna Ft. Justin Timberlake and Timbaland

This was obviously a big song, so why do I not know it? I'm more of an 80's Madonna kinda guy, that's my excuse.

17th May 2008

The Unicorn and the Wasp

4 Minutes

Madonna Ft. Justin Timberlake and Timbaland

Madonna still rocking like it's 1984.

31st May 2008

Silence in the Library

Take a Bow

Rihanna

Another Eurovision break but Rihanna and Moffatt return! How exciting!

7th June 2008

Forest of the Dead

Take a Bow

Rihanna

Unsurprising that this era features a lot of Rihanna. Both on the top of their games.

14th June 2008

Midnight

Singin’ In the Rain

Mint Royale

I remember this from the VW Golf advert, I don't remember a BGT dancer dragging it to number one a few years later though. It's not a patch on the original.

21st June 2008

Turn Left

Singin’ In the Rain

Mint Royale

No singing for Donna in this marvellous episode, in the rain or otherwise.

28th June 2008

The Stolen Earth

Viva la Vida

Coldplay

One of the best part ones of the show. I'll admit it, I kind of dig Coldplay and this is one of my favourite Coldplay tracks. Makes fuck all sense though.

5th July 2008

Journey's End

Closer

Ne-Yo

We thought we were close to a new Doctor, but Ne-Yo was closer. The Doctor's handy spare hand saved the day - for now!

25th December 2008

The Next Doctor

Hallelujah

Alexandra Burke

I've seen Alexandra in Joseph, she's bloody fabulous. More X Factor black and white slow motion videos though, not so fabulous!!

11th April 2009

Planet of the Dead

Poker Face

Lady Gaga

There's not a whole load of Planet of the Dead love out in the Whoniverse, or maybe people are just bluffin' with their muffins!

15th November 2009

The Waters of Mars

Meet Me Halfway

Black Eyed Peas

The Doctor didn't meet anyone halfway here as he went full on Time Lord Victorious in this fucking awesome episode. Not a bad little track from the Black Eyed Peas either.

25th December 2009

The End of Time Part One

Killing in the Name

Rage Against the Machine

The public fight back!!!!! Ten will be raging against a machine with a glass door come the end of part two!!

1st January 2010

The End of Time Part Two

The Climb

Joe McElderry

A climb for Joe McElderry but a fall towards Earth for our new Doctor.

Miley did it better, so I will make her my bonus track!
