Continuing the countdown and getting the chart toppers from series 11 and 12...
7th October 2018
The Woman Who Fell to Earth
Promises
Calvin Harris and Sam Smith
Change my dear...! A female Doctor and judging by the video, Sam Smith has got rid of his suit. How woke!! That was sarcasm FYI!
14th October 2018
The Ghost Monument
Funky Friday
Dave Ft. Fredo
Proof that I am too old for all this now!! No idea what this song is. Fredo? Didn't that used to be a reasonably priced treat?
21st October 2018
Rosa
Promises
Calvin Harris and Sam Smith
Calvin and Sam return to the top as the Doctor tackles some big subjects.
28th October 2018
Arachnids in the UK
Shallow
Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper
I never watched A Star is Born. Was it good? I hope it was better than Arachnids in the UK anyway!! I do feel this gets a bit too much hate though, lest we forget, Ten drowned a load of baby spiders not all that long ago. Actually it was a long time ago, but that doesn't matter, the point still stands. Drowning, suffocating, there isn't much difference there. Negative points for making the Trump-a-like have any form of redeemable characteristics though, if your going to do Trump at least make it realistic and have him grabbing pussies and shitting on Mexicans like the loveable rogue that he is (sarcasm again FYI).
4th November 2018
The Tsuranga Conundrum
Shallow
Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper
I was really starting to panic after this episode.
11th November 2018
Demons of the Punjab
Thank U, Next
Ariana Grande
It felt like half of the fandom were saying Fuck U, Next by this point. It was not a good look all round from anyone. Jodie and the gang have some thick skin and I love them for it.
18th November 2018
Kerblam!
Thank U, Next
Ariana Grande
Donald Trump and now Amazon being mishandled a tad. They should of gone all guns blazing on the both of them. They ended up looking like Trump and Amazon were in the right all along. Some slightly odd outcomes in this series.
25th November 2018
The Witchfinders
Thank U, Next
Ariana Grande
I hate to say it, but this was the first ever modern Doctor Who episode I fell asleep in. When I woke up I never even watched the end. My commitment to the show was being tested here, I can't lie to you, I just found it all a bit boring.
2nd December 2018
It Takes You Away
Thank U, Next
Ariana Grande
Ariana and the frog.
9th December 2018
The Battle of Ranskoor Av Kolos
Thank U, Next
Ariana Grande
I didn't watch the finale at the time it aired. I am actually not sure if I have watched it now. So I either never watched it or it was very forgettable. I choose to take a break and come back next series. Spoilers - I am glad I did!
1st January 2019
Resolution
Sweet But Psycho
Ava Max
All I will say is although at the time it was a bit of a downer not having a Christmas special, a decision I still don't really understand, at least this episode didn't share its air date with LadBaby. We Built This City and I Love Sausage Rolls, good grief. Yeah, yeah it was for a good cause and all that jazz, but that doesn't stop my hatred for a lot of YouTube channels. Ones that say oh look at my wife's reaction to this crazy thing I did (that we actually planned before I did it), bore the fuck off!!
1st January 2020
Spyfall, Part 1
River
Ellie Goulding
I remember telling my wife who really didn't care either way that Doctor Who was back. I was worried that the direction the show was going in just wasn't for me after the last series, but I loved this. Two reasons, the ending and twist to this was a blast, and when Thirteen was playing cards and said "snap!" made me chuckle, an actual lol, and that doesn't happen for me very often. That was a moment when I thought I like her. Silly reason I know, but little things count don't they?
5th January 2020
Spyfall, Part 2
River
Ellie Goulding
I love this Ellie Goulding song, it was very nice! As were the opening episodes of this series.
12th January 2020
Orphan 55
Own It
Stormzy Ft. Ed Sheeran and Burna Boy
Was my faith in the return of the show misjudged? Head in hands moment with this one. Also further proof I am getting old, never heard this song before. I do know who Stormzy and Ed Sheeran are though - so there is that.
Does anyone of a certain age remember the day they stopped listening to Radio 1? Do people still listen to Radio 1? When did all the DJ's from my Radio 1 era become DJ's on Radio 2? Why has this happened to me?!
19th January 2020
Nikola Tesla's Night of Terror
Own It
Stormzy Ft. Ed Sheeran and Burna Boy
Phew, a good episode again! Thank goodness!
26th January 2020
Fugitive of the Judoon
Own It
Stormzy Ft. Ed Sheeran and Burna Boy
I lost my shit at this episode, it was so good!
2nd February 2020
Praxeus
Godzilla
Eminem Ft. Juice Wrld
I don't even know Eminem songs now, and I used to be lining up for his albums back in the day!
9th February 2020
Can You Hear Me?
Before You Go
Lewis Capaldi
Not the best Capaldi in the World!! We all know who that is don't we?!
16th February 2020
The Haunting of Villa Diodati
Blinding Lights
The Weeknd
This song was everywhere wasn't it. Was it big on TikTok or something like that? Anyway, good tune and even better episode.
23rd February 2020
Ascension of the Cybermen
Blinding Lights
The Weeknd
Fun song and episode!
1st March 2020
The Timeless Children
No Time to Die
Billie Eilish
I have started to get more into Billie Eilish lately, she is so good. It was No Time to Die for James Bond but some mad woman was making the Doctor die over and over again back on Gallifrey. If only this released the same time as Spyfall...!
1st January 2021
Revolution of the Daleks
Last Christmas
Wham!
Fun fact, this song didn't get the Christmas number 1 until 2023. Unfortunately we were still having to put up with pastry based Christmas number ones at this time.
Bonus track for this week is for Jodie breaking the glass celling.
